The first ever Pumpkin People in the Park, hosted by the Woman's Club of Rutherford from Oct. 24-Oct. 30, encourages locals and businesses to use their imagination to turn pumpkins into people.
"This is something new that I am hoping to get off the ground," said Kolich, chairperson of the Rutherford Woman's Club. "I'd love to make it an annual event."
The $50 per person cost includes an 8’ x 10’ pumpkin patch spot in Lincoln Park, a bale of hay and a pumpkin sign that displays the group/individual name.
"They just need to bring their imagination and pumpkin and decorate," Kolich said.
The displays will be judged and prizes awarded. They'll remain in the park for a week.
The idea for this event came to Kolich while visiting her sister in Chatham, Massachusetts over the summer.
"They have a beautiful park as well and I just stumbled upon this and thought it was wonderful," she said.
All proceeds will go to the Rutherford Woman's Club for scholarships or donations.
