Caspert 'Cass' Slieker, 80, Of Carlstadt

CARLSTADT, N.J. -- Caspert “Cass” Slieker, 80, of Carlstadt, died Oct. 28. 

Slieker was born May 4, 1936, in Holland and came to the U.S.A. in 1952. 

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Since 1968, he was a licensed electrician and employed by I.B.E.W. Local 164 in Paramus, retiring in 2006. He was a member of the Carlstadt Fire Department Engine Co. #3 “F-Troop” for 31 years, serving as chief in 1990 and retiring in 2001. 

Slieker was an Exempt Fireman, a member of the Knights of Fire, the Carlstadt Senior Friendship Club and the Masonic Order of New York City. 

He is survived by his wife, Norma M. Slieker; children, John Casper Slieker, Denise Lupo, Lorraine Barnas and Daniel Laudicina; grandchildren, Dallas and Cassie, Nicole, Charlie, Jeffrey and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Alexandria and Charles; and brother, Piet Slieker and his wife Erna. 

He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis (nee Miller) Slieker. 

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad St., Carlstadt. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery in Lyndhurst. Visitation will be from  2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the N.J. Firemen’s Home, 565 Lathrop Ave., Boonton, NJ 07005.
