Elaine Mary Kopp, 60, East Rutherford Resident

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Elaine Mary Kopp, of East Rutherford, formerly of Lodi and Paramus, died on Sunday, Jan. 15. She was 60.

She was born June 5, 1956. A registered nurse, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Felician University. Specializing in neuroscience nursing, she enjoyed a 30-year career providing compassionate patient care at New York Hospital—Cornell Medical Center, St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center, and The Johns Hopkins Hospital. 

She was a dedicated member and officer of organizations committed to advancing the art and practice of nursing, including the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (national and Greater New York Chapter), Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the STTI Mu Theta-at-Large Chapter of Felician University, and the STTI New Jersey Consortium. She served on the editorial board of the Journal of Neuroscience Nursing, as a content reviewer of the AANN Core Curriculum for Neuroscience Nursing, and as editor of Connections, her STTI chapter newsletter. She was also an organizer, presenter and moderator at numerous professional conferences and conventions over the past decade. 

A student of global nursing throughout her career, she traveled widely to learn first-hand the philosophy and art of nursing in countries around the world, including England, Nepal, Thailand, South Korea, and Hong Kong. She was also a life-long artist, studying art and graphic design at Felician and finding self-expression through drawing, painting, sculpting, and photography throughout her life. 

She is survived by friends and family: Sompong Fukiatisuthi of East Rutherford, Mary Beth and Don Elliott of Franklin Lakes, Damian and Mary Kopp of Washington Twp., John and Karen Kopp of Wayne, Thomas and Judy Kopp of Fair Lawn, Betsy Foote of Durham, NC, Kerry and Gail Kopp of Eldorado Hills, CA, and Norel and Joe Blundo of Westwood, as well as her 10 nieces and nephews. 

She is predeceased by her parents, Lillian and Howard Kopp; and brothers, Brian and Rory.

Visitation is Wednesday, Jan. 18 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Costa Memorial Home, Boulevard and Central Ave., Hasbrouck Heights. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales R.C. Church, 125 Union Street, Lodi. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery 179 Hackensack Ave., Hackensack.
