She was born Sept. 29, 1952.
She was the first East Rutherford pre-K teacher. She taught pre-K and kindergarten for 27 years there.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Schmitt; children, Amy and her husband John Saal, Jeffrey Schmitt and Alison Schmitt; siblings, Leonard and his wife Linda Raguseo and Conrad and his wife Joann Raguseo; and grandchildren, Noah and Ruby.
There will be a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 91 Home Ave., Rutherford. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
