CARLSTADT, N.J. -- John G. Ondrof, of Carlstadt, died Nov. 24. He was 83.
He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. For 38 years, he was a bus driver for New Jesrey Transit in Jersey City and retired in 1995. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s R. C. Church, a life member of both the Carlstadt VFW Post 3149 for 50 years and the Carlstadt American Legion Post 69, a member of the Carlstadt Senior Friendship Club (past president from 2008-09) and a member of P.S. Local 821. He loved telling jokes and making people laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Irene (nee Dembek) Ondrof; children, Thomas Ondrof and his wife Diane, John Ondrof and his wife Laurie and William Ondrof and his wife Sandra; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, Anna Heba and her husband Martin and the late Robert J. Ondrof and Margaret Hicks.
There will be a funeral departing at 10 a.m. Monday from the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad St., Carlstadt for a 10:30 a.m.funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s R. C. Church in East Rutherford. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
