Woman, 22, killed after stepping in front of train near Rutherford station

UPDATE: A 22-year-old Passaic woman stepped in front of a passenger train just west of the Rutherford train station just after 5 p.m. and was killed, an NJ Transit spokeswoman told CLIFFVIEW PILOT tonight.

“She stood on the tracks and did not move when the engineer sounded the horn,” the spokeswoman said.

Roughly 500 riders were transferred to another train after the #53 out of Hoboken to Port Jervis struck and killed the woman tonight.
