RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Rutherford high-school students will be shadowing local government officials, to learn about the varied roles of local government on Monday, April 25.
Selected students will pair up with officials and follow them during the afternoon, learning about their daily functions.
Officials taking part in the event include the mayor, Public Works superintendent, council members, library director, tax collector, police chief and health officer, among others.
Participants will gather at Borough Hall for lunch and meet their partners for the afternoon. Later in the afternoon, the students will each describe their afternoon. There will then be an open forum, and the mayor, council and department heads will be available for a Q&A session.
Some students will also attend the mayor and council meeting at 6:30 p.m.
