David Maltese, video director for the Giants, earned the ring when the team beat the Vikings in 2001, sending them to Super Bowl XXXV, the story says.

Maltese did not realize the ring was missing, until he received a call from the company SellYourGold.com, the story says.

Folks at the company noticed the name on the ring did not match that of the person who sold it to them, and notified authorities, the story says.
